Lexitaire is a word game played on a board of stacked letter tiles — think solitaire, but every card is a letter and every move is a word.
The board
Only the top tile of each column is in play. Tap top tiles — from any columns, in any order — and each letter lands in the word tray at the bottom of the screen. As a tile leaves the top of its column, the tile below it slides up and becomes available.
Building a word
Changed your mind about a tile? Tap it in the tray to send it back to its column. Once the tray spells a real word, its word score fills in below the tray and a checkmark button appears — tap it to bank the word and clear those tiles for good.
Scoring
A word scores its letters' points, multiplied by its length — so longer words, and words built from rarer, higher-point letters, are worth disproportionately more than a string of short ones. See our scoring tips for how to use that to your advantage.
Game modes
- Classic — the board is fixed from the start; keep clearing words until no more can be formed from what's left on top.
- Timed — tiles keep regenerating as you clear them, so the board never runs dry; a countdown clock is what ends the game instead.
Board size, language, and look
Board dimensions are adjustable, and the game plays in English or several other languages (Spanish, French, Italian, German, Greek) — or with English tiles under a UI localized into many more. Tile finishes and tabletop backgrounds are fully customizable, from maple and marble to brushed steel and rainbow.
