How this works — and why it's private

Daily Words is a single, self-contained HTML file. Open your browser's network inspector while using it and you'll see it makes zero network requests after the page loads — there is no server to send your writing to, because there is no server at all. Everything you type is written straight to your browser's localStorage, scoped to whatever page/origin you're viewing it from.

That also means your words are only on this device, in this browser. Clearing your browser data, using a different browser, or opening this page from a different URL will not show your previous entries. Use Download everything (.zip) or Backup as JSON whenever you want a copy you control — those are the only ways any of your writing ever leaves this page, and only when you explicitly click them.
